Common questions
- What does 916 mean on my gold?
- It is the fineness mark: 916 parts gold per 1,000, or 91.6%, which is 22 carat. On BIS-hallmarked jewellery it appears alongside the BIS logo and the six-character HUID.
- Is 22K better than 18K?
- Purer, not better. 22K holds more metal value; 18K is harder and holds stones more securely, which is why studded pieces are usually 18K.
